More Photos of Parklane Gallery's Miniature Show

Above are the photos of Saturday's Artists Reception at Parklane Gallery's 18th Annual International Miniature Art Show. It was a beautiful evening, with open doors and lots of people milling about downtown. It's also Mothers' Day Weekend Open Studios in Kirkland, so I'm sure there were many more visitors the rest of the weekend. It was great seeing sales being made as the reception was going on. There was someone filming artists' interviews and as always live music. I heard a lot of folks exclaiming how much they were in awe of the tiny treasures and lots of people getting closer magnified looks to see all the details.

I enjoyed saying hello to my virtual friends and miniature artists Rachelle and Wes Siegrist via Skype. It was great hearing their voices. We could see them, but unfortunately, they couldn't see us. Isn't technology grand! Congratulations to all the award winners and thanks to the Siegrists for giving their reasons for choosing them. They said it was a very difficult job!

My friend Janie Olsen and her husband Bill were there in person. Janie was happy to have made some sales, and I was able to get another look at her imaginative, inspiring work. I think this year is also the first that I have seen any 3D work. My virtual friend, Mona Diane Conner had her beautiful work, Tulip Garden at Giverny, in the show. Unfortunately I didn't get a very good photo of her work. You can see it much better on her blog, The Ruby Slippers. I wish I could have picked it up for a closer look.

Parklane Gallery is located in beautiful downtown Kirkland,WA, 130 Park Lane. Free parking is located under the Kirkland Library. However, due to construction, that lot is currently closed! The show opened May 4th and will continue through June 8th. Magnifying glasses are provided and closer looks are encouraged!

The award winning husband and wife team, Rachelle and Wes Siegrist were the awards judges. The Siegrists appeared at the reception via Skype.

Be sure to check out Parklane Gallery's website at Parklanegallery.com to view the work online. My work can be seen starting on Panel # 49. My friend Janie Olsen is on Panel 42 and 43.

Barbara, glad you were able to get to the show in person. I know I find it inspiring to see the miniatures up close and personal. Good luck with sales.

Thanks Barbara for the photos! Neat to see what we actually looked like on Skype at the gallery. Wish we had been able to see all of you.

You're welcome Ellie. It's always great to see your work here. I love your landscapes. :)

Rachelle and Wes, I wish you could have been here in person! My husband heard one of the gallery people saying that their connection wasn't fast enough to handle the video part. Too bad, but it was great at least to see you two instead of just a voice alone.

Thanks for posting these Barbara! I always enjoy seeing the shows I have work in, when I can't be there in person. This one looks like it was so well done.

This is fun to get to see the show at least from a distance. Would love to actually attend a real mini show in person- someday, sigh...
Thanks much for posting all these and former photos. Appreciate it. Hope they sell out!

You are both welcome. It is a good show and I'm so happy I have at least this one to see in person what a miniature art show is like. There are other shows around with a miniature category, but this one adheres to the definition of the AMA, Association of Miniature Artists. It was great seeing your work Deb. Wish I could have seen yours Carol.

Great photos of the show Barbara. Thanks so much for sharing. Wish I could have been there.
It's a little too far from downunder.

Would have been great fun meeting blogger friends too.
