It's that time of year for the Miniature Masterpieces and More! invitational exhibit at *Tsuga Fine Art Gallery in Bothell. This year I have two in the Small Works Category and three in the Miniature Category.  *(formally Kaewyn Gallery)

I know that many would consider my two small works above as miniatures.  However, as a member of several Miniature Art Societies, I follow the guidelines of these Societies.  I consider work that is under 25 inches square, done with attention to detail, with a 1/6 scale and fine rendering to be a miniature work of art.  The two above, even if they are under 25" square and done with much detail, are framed larger and just do not fit in the miniature category!   If you are curious and wish to read or learn more about miniature art and the miniature art societies, you can do so on the following links.

The above are my miniature works in the show.  The Miniature Masterpieces and More! show opens on Friday, December 6th and runs through January 11th.   Tsuga Fine Art Gallery is located in beautiful downtown Bothell at 10101 Main Street (google map).They are open Tuesday - Thursday 10 to 6, Friday 10 - 5 and Saturday 10 - 4.  It is my 7th year participating in this fine invitational show.  Each year I am amazed by all the beautiful work in the show.  I hope you get a chance to see it.  All work is for sale.  These small and miniature artworks make wonderful gifts that will be lasting treasures.  Support your local businesses and your local artists!  Thank you for taking the time to read about my work.  Happy Holidays to all of my blogger friends and friends to be!

6th Annual Miniature Fine Art Show at Artistic Designs Gallery

This weekend is the opening of the 6^th Annual Miniature Fine Art Show at Artistic Designs Gallery in Brownsburg, Indiana. (map) This is another new venue for me.  I have three fine art miniature paintings,  A Walk in the Woods, Catchin' Some Rays, and Patience, all bird paintings in the show.  The judging of the work this year will be done by Wes and Rachelle Siegrist, who will also be teaching a workshop on miniature painting and signing their books.

The show features a world-class exhibit of fine art miniatures and small works. There will be a variety of media from renowned artists from across the United States as well as Internationally.  All of the work is minute in scale, high in quality, exquisitely detailed and available for purchase. In addition to the Miniature Fine Art Exhibit, The Miniature Artists of America’s Traveling Exhibition (MAA) will be on display.  This elegant exhibit has been prepared to be shown as an educational tool and contains 35 juried works by 35 Signature artist members. These works have been painted by some of the foremost miniaturists in the United States, England, Canada, and South Africa. Works in this exhibit are not available for purchase.  I do not have work in the Traveling Exhibition yet, but will when this exhibit changes works, now that I am a signature member!  I'm still deciding which work I want to represent me, since the exhibition travels. 

The 6^th Annual Miniature Fine Art Show opens Saturday July 14th, and runs through Saturday August 25th. Admission is free for all visitors, and you can stop in to see these tiny works of art any time through August 25 during Artistic Designs Gallery business hours which can found on their website: http://www.artisticdesignsgallery.net/.  Sounds like a great show, I wish I could be there!  If you are anywhere near this area during this time, it would be a great opportunity to see both of these fine exhibits together!

Group Show at North Seattle Community College

I've been asked to participate in a show called "Shrunken Treasures" at the Gallery at North Seattle Community College. It's a show of small works and miniatures, (all work must be 12 x 12 inches or smaller). For Small Works, I'll have two colored pencil drawings on film, and two on paper. I will also have five Miniatures, three in colored pencil on paper, from my Italian Landscape Series, and two other works done in colored pencil on film. Together they should provide a nice grouping. The show runs from October 13th through November 6th. There will be an opening reception on Tuesday, October 13th from 1 - 3pm and again, from 6 - 8pm. I"ll be attending the evening reception, 6 - 8 pm. The Gallery is located in room IB 1322, the address is 9600 College Way N, Seattle. I hope to see you there!

This is proof that having a website and blog are helpful. Brenda Anderson, the curator for the gallery saw my work on my website. When Brenda contacted me for this show, she wrote in her email...

"We are a small Art Gallery on the North Seattle Community College campus. Our main purpose is to expose the students and local community to art. We strive to have professional shows that allow students to see work they may not otherwise venture out to see. We also have a wonderful art program on campus and the gallery is an important part of those students' education. We have 6 art shows every year, 5 professional and one student show for the art students to showcase their work."

I am honored to be a part of this exhibition. I know that community college gave me a place to explore and further my art interests. I gained confidence in myself, my work and met many a mentor at both Valencia Community College in Orlando, Fl and Cabrillo Community College in Aptos, CA. Community colleges are a great resource for adults as well as students.

Parking and Directions: If you are coming from I-5, you will get off at the Northgate exit and head west on Northgate Way. Turn left onto Meridian Way, it will turn into College Way. When you get to the campus, you want to turn left into the 2nd drive/entrance. You will come to a "T", turn right for visitor parking. If you somehow get lost on campus, look for the Bookstore. The gallery is in the same building, directly behind the bookstore.
