Fine Art in Miniature Exhibit at Fredlund Gallery, Winter Park, FL

For the first time, Fredlund Gallery in Winter Park, FL will be hosting the Miniature Artists of America Traveling Exhibition, from February 19th through March 19th, 2011. This MAA Traveling Exhibit recognizes leading contemporary miniature artists and its purpose is to broaden public understanding and appreciation of this ancient art form. The exhibit consists of 35 pieces of Miniature Art owned by the "Miniature Artists of America". Exhibit Coordinator, Wes Siegrist said, "Although the exhibit is usually displayed in museums, the quality of the Fredlund Gallery makes it an appropriate venue".

In conjunction with the traveling exhibit, the gallery will also have an additional 100 miniature artworks by 20 national artists. These fine art miniatures will be available for purchase. I am honored to have been invited to participate in this show! Of my four works, two are from my Italian landscape series, In the Country and the award winning, Sunday Afternoon, as well as my colored pencil on film work, Innocence and my silverpoint drawing, Bright-eyed and Bushy-tailed. This show was short notice and I wasn't going to participate at first because I didn't have any newer work that was appropriate for this venue. However, I emailed the gallery with the above images and told them this is what I had. They said to send it, and so I did. I know that the work in the MAA Traveling Exhibit is the TOP of the line as I saw it while I was at the MASF show! The Winter Park area is a VERY nice area and this show will be up when the Winter Park Art Festival is going on, March 18,19 and 20th. That draws a lot of art enthusiasts from all over! I hope they wander in the Fredlund Gallery and see all these treasures and have to have them for their collection!!

Fredlund Gallery has been in business for 23 years and is the largest fine arts gallery in Central Florida. They are located at 221 S. Knowles Avenue, in Winter Park. First Place in Drawing - Miniature Painters, Sculptors, & Gravers Society in Washington DC

I received a great surprise in the mail yesterday from the Miniature Painters, Sculptors & Gravers Society in Washington D.C. (MPSGS). I am thrilled to have been given the First Place Award in Drawing for my work, A Flash of Blue!

I had already gotten the acceptance notice that all three of my works above, A Flash of Blue, Innocence and A Touch of Autumn were accepted into the Exhibition. This is the 4th year of having all my work accepted into this prestigious miniature art society. There are over 800 works in the exhibition this year. This is such a great honor and means so much to me.


The 77th Annual International Exhibition of Fine Art in Miniature opens with the Artists' Luncheon, Awards Ceremony and Opening Reception on November 21st. The Exhibition is held at The Mansion at the Strathmore, beautifully set on a hilltop at 10701 Rockville Pike, Bethesda, MD 20852. The Exhibit opens to the public on November 22nd through December 30th, 2010. The Mansion hours are Weekdays, 10 - 4 PM and Wednesday till 9 PM. Saturday it is open from 10 - 3 PM.


I sure wish I could be there, it's so far away! Sigh...

2010 Edmonds Arts Festival Work Juried In

I received my acceptance letter from the Edmonds Arts Festival yesterday. This year I will have three miniatures as well as a drawing in the juried show. Those miniatures are, (click on title to view on website), A Flash of Blue, Innocence, and Hay Bales.

My other entry, Finding Time, (in the drawing category, was accepted as well. Unfortunately, there isn't an artists' reception this year. Instead, the Juried Gallery Awards will be presented to Artists on Friday, June 18th at 11:00 am on the Edmonds Arts Festival Main Stage. This must be the official opening of the festival. I would think that it would be rather difficult for many artists to be present at 11:am on a weekday. The Juried Art Show will be inside the Frances Anderson Center, 700 Main Street, Edmonds,WA. In addition to the indoor juried show, there is also the outdoor Arts Festival with food, music and artists' booths on the lawn. This fun festival takes place on Fathers' Day weekend, June 19 through the 20th.

For a first choice opportunity to purchase an original work of art and view the award winners there will be a Preview Party on Wednesday, June 16th. This event is the annual fundraiser for the Edmonds Arts Festival Foundation and proceeds will go toward scholarship and grant projects. Bring Dad and the whole family for some fun, fine art, music and food! Be sure to look for my work in the Miniature Art Exhibit and also the Drawing Category inside the Juried Art Gallery. I just got an email from Kaewyn Gallery that the Miniature Masterpieces and More exhibit will be extended through January 29th. If you didn't get a chance to see the show, there is still time! I have three miniatures remaining in this exhibit, Innocence, "Rhodie" With Bee, The Sentinel, and one small work, A Meditation on the Pacific Northwest , (located up front by the window). So if you don't know what to do with that check from Santa, consider some local art at Kaewyn Gallery, 10101 Main Street in downtown Bothell, WA. Support your local artist!

Happy Holidays To All My Blogging Friends and Good News from Kaewyn Gallery!

I received a happy email from Lynn at Kaewyn Gallery in Bothell saying I sold two of my miniature art works!! Yay! I went over yesterday and picked up my check and saw the show. Lynn's year end, Miniature Masterpieces and More - Holiday Exhibit is by invitation only, so I'm always happy to be included. The show is hung very professionally, a great well lighted space, with many different styles from local northwest artists. This year I was able to send some new pieces, and the one I blogged about here as a work in progress (WIP), Time is a Patient Sculptor, is gone already! That was a fun one to do and turned out so well! I am pleased that someone else thought so, enough to want to add it to their collection! The other one that sold was, All Washed Up. That was also a fun one to do, another northwest scene that I hope will be a happy addition to someone's collection!

I still have four works remaining in the show which will continue through January 9th. There are three miniatures, "Rhodie" With Bee, Innocence, The Sentinel, (see above photo) as well as the small work, A Meditation on the Pacific Northwest. That small painting is up near the front of the gallery by the window. If you go, don't miss it as it is difficult to see all the fine detail and shimmering iridescent colors here on screen. Seeing it in person is much better!

A Meditation on the Pacific Northwest, can be used as an altar piece and does well leaning back on a shelf leaving room for candles or an offering. It would also work well hung in a meditation or yoga space. It would make a great gift ... even to yourself! Namaste.

Kaewyn Gallery's Miniature Masterpiece and More! Holiday Exhibit

I've delivered my work to Kaewyn Gallery for their annual Holiday Show, Miniature Masterpieces and More! I have five miniatures and one small work in the show this year. The miniatures works are, All Washed Up, Innocence, "Rhodie" With Bee, The Sentinel, and the new miniature acrylic painting that I showed here as a (WIP), work in progress, Time is a Patient Sculptor.

In the small works category, I have submitted the Buddha painting, A Meditation on the Pacific Northwest. This year the show opening is also the day of the Vintage Bothell Wine Walk and Kaewyn Gallery will be hosting Red Sky Winery. Now there are TWO reasons to go, great affordable art and a wine tasting! The opening reception is on Friday, December 4th from 5 to 8PM.
