The Spirit of Giving Show Changes

I've received an email this weekend saying that there weren't enough entries for a juried competition for the show, The Spirit of Giving, at the Everett Artists' Supply and Framing. How disappointing! I had done the work, The Offering, to submit to this show. However, they have offered to refund our entry fee and do a group show of the entrants with the same terms of a portion of any sale to be donated to the causes stated. Since I haven't found any other local competitions to submit this work to, I think I am going to let the work hang in their show. It is better to be in a group show now than to just have it hang out in my studio until another show materializes. They are a small store, that had recently changed hands and location and are working really hard to make their place happen. This was to be their first juried competition! There are a lot of holiday shows going on this time of year. I guess they weren't able to get the word out to enough artists in time. So now that I've decided to go ahead and show it, I'd better get my frame ordered!

Hi Barbara---yes it is too bad about the Everett show. I said I would like to be part of the group show as well-maybe next year will be better :) Will let you know about the Auburn show on Weds. There will be some more opportunities for that piece for sure---Just remembered--Did you check out this link (another far away show though) http://www.collectivevisions.com/cvg_show/index.php

Hi Janie, I've ordered my frame today. I hope it gets here in time to put it all together and deliver before the deadline. I wonder if they are going to still do a reception? I got an email from Diana saying they will be sending out the cards to be printed. Yes, I know about the collective visions one. Have you entered it before?

I do so hope that this little place has a great turnout. Your piece is lovely, truly, Barbara, and I am sure it will garner lots of oohs and aahs, if not a sale. I think it is neat that you are willing to help this new business out with your strong submission! And bonus! You get your fee back!

so sad things didn't work out for the show, but glad to hear you have an alternative.

Oh Barbara, I'm so disappointed for you. I can't believe you haven't been in a juried show before - your work is so outstanding. Hang in there - I'm sure you'll be in plenty more juried shows in years to come!!!!

Thanks Deb and Karen. Opps, I have been in juried shows before Karen, this is Everett Artist's Supply and Framing's first juried show. Sorry if that wasn't clear. It's too bad it didn't work out for them, and I hope they do it again next year. At least there will still be a show, just not juried nor any awards. But a show is still nice and my work will be in good company. I know the work of a few of the other entrants. : )

Doris, I moved your comment over to the "Work in Progress, Another Silverpoint" post. I think that is where you intended it to be. Thanks for commenting and looking. : )

Autumn, thanks for your comment. For some reason, it slipped through and I didn't comment back! I'm sure I'll be blogging about the reception. I'm looking forward to it! My frame comes tomorrow, Wed. so it will be great to put it all together.
